Poor little Keely is sick! She's had the sniffles before, so we're well-skilled in the saline drops and bulb syringe (aka "booger snatcher"), but this is actually the first time she's been legitimately ill. I'm talking old man cough, major congestion, fever. It took a turn for the worse this weekend...Saturday she was up at 5am, inconsolable and unwilling to drink anything. Nothing helped--Tylenol, teething tablets, corn syrup (heard it was a cough suppressant for little ones). We went to the doctor and she had developed an ear infection! She started antibiotics yesterday but unfortunately she remained a tired little grump who wouldn't nap all day! And she was up at 5am again this morning, inconsolable for a couple of hours again. The fluid builds up in her ears as she lays flat and the pain is worse in the morning. Thankfully she started drinking some today and by the evening was in better spirits. While getting her jammies on tonight I noticed a rash on her chest/belly--I hope it is a reaction from her shots and not a reaction to the antibiotic! The pediatrician warned us ahead of time that she might develop a rash two weeks after the MMR and varicella vaccines. We'll check it out tomorrow. Anyhow, this wasn't designed to me a poor me post (although Eric & I are quite exhausted), I am incredibly thankful that it took more than a year for Keely to really get ill or need antibiotics.
